Introduction

The Happy Banana is a family run guesthouse and restaurant with comfortable rooms in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. It is close to the beautiful Unawatuna Beach where guests can enjoy the sun and the sea in a welcoming environment. Our hotel is exceptionally well situated at Unawatuna Beach, one of the world’s most beautiful places. The guesthouse is 50m from the ocean. A free parking lot is available for guests.

The Happy Banana Restaurant was built in 1983. Guests can enjoy a variety of local and foreign specialties or enjoy a cold cocktail while lying in the sun. We offer different kind of dishes, both European and Sri Lankan specialties. Water sport equipment including surfboards, snorkeling masks, and small boats are available for guests to rent.

Unawatuna is a coastal village in Galle district of Sri Lanka. It is a major tourist attraction and famous for its beautiful beaches and corals. The beach has been acclaimed amongst 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. There is a reef protecting the beach, which makes it safe for bathing. Rumassala, a rocky outcrop projecting into the sea is connected to the legend of Ramayana. It is believed to be a piece of mountain that was fallen when Lord Hanuman brought the mountains to Sri Lanka in search of a medicinal herb to treat Laxamana-Rama's brother who was wounded in battle. The serene surroundings and the Dutch architecture add to the charm of the place.

Unawatuna is 150 km from Colombo's Bandaranayaka International Airport in Katunayaka. You are welcome to contact us to arrange a transfer to the hotel. The journey takes about 3 hours by private vehicles.
